Mekael Dawson (b.1985) is a photographer and visual artist based in Los Angeles, California. As a teen, he grew up producing skate videos and catching snapshots on disposable cameras. In 2010, Dawson began to slow down and listen to the ephemeral world that surrounded him through the lens of his camera.
His diverse focus ranges from portraiture and landscapes to street photography and abstract expressionism. Curiosity toward the nature of consciousness, human relatedness and the complexities of the natural world are but a few driving forces behind his creativity. In all aspects of his work, he strives to paint his subjects with both objectivity and a sense of wonder.
